Claire Louise Milne
Claire has loved drawing and painting since the age of four and her dream in kindergarten was to one day become a children's book illustrator. Despite the fact that she spent her time at high school filling stacks of sketchbooks with her artwork and participating in art shows, she decided to study English literature and Psychology at the University of Toronto. After graduation, she realized she wanted to have a creative career and completed numerous photography, graphic design and illustration courses at George Brown College and the Ontario College of Art & Design. During this time she began a seven-year career as a graphic designer specializing in book and magazine publishing. Recently she has taken the leap into full-time illustration and now specializes in children's publishing. Claire has illustrated numerous children's books for publishers in North America and internationally. Her illustrations are done in watercolour, and warmly depict children and adults from all cultures, realistic animals and whimsical animal characters.
Her clients have included: Happy House (imprint of Darakwon Publishing), Bebop Books (imprint of Lee & Low), Macmillan/McGraw-Hill, Harcourt Canada and Nelson Thomson Learning
